Maurizio,

Do you want to co-operate with a detailed restauration for our book? So to see you have quite a lot of vehicles.
Read our request here:
We are Narwal Publishers. See www.frituurzorro.nl ,our series about re-use of WW2 softskin vehicles. Next title will be about restaurations. What we would like is to show photos and text of detailed steps of a restauration (not too technical). The vehicle before and after restoration. Case histories and text can come in a later stage.

Hi,

The link up-thread a couple of posts is dead.

I thought about your original question, is there a guide?

I am on the down-hill run of a 969 rebuild and am planning a M1A1 rebuild next, albeit a few years away.
This has caused a bit of thought about how to go about it with the experience I now have. I have realized that the 'how' of a restoration has as much to do with your personality type and available money(=space/equipment/outsourcing) as anything. All the rest is more-or-less standard procedure.

The 969 was: cabin > chassis > axles > drive drain > rear bed > front sheet metal > all the little stuff > cranes.

The M1A1 is looking more like: front chassis > drive train > cabin/sheet metal >all the small stuff (= driveable) > rear chassis > cranes > rear bed. And as I have more money now, there will probably be more sandblasting rather than the very time consuming hand cleaning.
Dunno, still thinking.
