Well now those are huge, tho I don't think I have heard of anybody complaining about lack of stopping power with a 10 ton.

Look what I found another LeRoi Mack 10 Ton Tractor. It has been sitting for over 20 years only 4 miles from the ocean and it is rough. Thought you guys might enjoy seeing the viedo I made cranking it for the first in over 20 years. I know Mikey will like it.

RUSS JONES has a NOS 903 Cummins left over from one of his "Floater Trucks" that he is famous for building, it just might be a good replacement for the V-8 Cummins used in the Diesel M-123.

Nope not really the V-300 is a 3,000rpm engine as where the V903 is only a 2200rpm engine  you would only accomplish slowing it down

Anyone know how the 10 Ton being restored by Dr Dirt is doing. A video with sound of the LeRoi powered 10 Ton is impressive, there is nothing like it.

Ian Fawbert wrote:Hi Ben/J.

Just out of curiosity, who is the OMS#3?

Also, why did they send the 5 ton M52 to continue the trip and not use it to do the whole trip instead of the M124?

Cheers,
Ian.

To answer your question, the M-123 had broken down, on Interstate 95 the Ordnance unit it was assigned to, 142nd Ordnance, was at least 100 miles to the South. The M-123 would then be either loaded on a lowboy trailer, or towbarred back to OMS#3 who had no parts to repair it. The 5th wheel pin on the Dragon wagon was larger than that of the trailers normally towed by the 5 Ton, but the Dragon Wagon came equipped with a smaller pin to allow it to be towed by other tractors.

Whatever happened to Dirt71 and Studebaker M275? The restoration of Dr Dirts 10 Ton appeared to be going just fine. Was hoping to see the completed truck and hopefully a video of the LeRoi powered 10 ton which has an impressive and unique sound that is out of this world.

The M123 was sold awhile ago, it is now residing in Minnesota with a very happy owner. Dirt123 also sold his Diamond T 981 that came from Kevin Krounlund's estate.
