Looking good Dave,
I know you have the rear frame/pintle hook, do you need the cross member for in front of the rear end? how about the gas tank supports?

Thanks Jon. The donor truck I have recently been referring to as "the pretzel" had everything I needed to make Emmaline right, as far as the parts you are referring to. Several of the other guys asked me some questions and see that I did not respond to them. Please understand that last year was quite challenging for me with making the decision to leave So. Cal. to help my Dad, so my head was more or less otherwise occupied.
The BIGGEST news is that a really nice man who has received A LOT of help from the Chevy Crowd has offered a complete Hercules built dump bed and hoist. I don't know what He wants for it yet, but I will find out this coming Saturday. CARGO42 You got ya ears on son !?!? ..............................It maybe high time you put your @ss back in the saddle of a Chevy .

Stop teasing! I learned my lesson the first time around. Next truck has to have started life as a dump, not a cargo. I'll even change my moniker to 42Dump.

Would You like me to send you some pictures of it John Z. ? I do believe that it is an early war production bed, all of it was made by Hercules. I may just wind up buying it, hermetically sealing it up and waiting for you to buy a cab and chassis. After all, you have the ever-elusive and holy grail of all parts, don't you !? That's right, the P.T.O. shaft pillow bearing !!! I cannot think of a better starting point for an enthusiast, such as your self!! .

Re: Emmaline is now under construction.
Hello Gents, here are some more photos of last weekends actions taken on Emmaline. There really were some irritating additions that needed to be removed from the chassis. Enjoy.
Gar-Wood Bed guide from the "Bubba-Dump". The guy who welded it to the chassis didn't even TRY to square it up before gluing it down .
After what seemed like an eternity, I was able to pry this barnacle off the frame.
AAAAAAHH!!!
Now around to the starboard side. I was really surprised that both bolts came off the tank straps without any trouble.
And the fuel tank support arm mounts just HAD to be bolstered with extra material as if the original installation was not strong enough.
I had to cut through the extra side plates that were added to the mounts so I could remove the arms.
Here is the other bed guide. Removal of this one only took about fifteen minutes, it wasn't welded to the frame as robustly as the other one was.
It is going to be an eventful weekend with lotsa work, and more photos. Thanks for looking.

Re: Emmaline is now under construction. Update: 26 May, 2017
Installing a hoist back in the day looked to be a very invasive procedure, removing the cross member from between the spring hangars is a truck killer.
I hope you're wearing a full face shield while using cut off wheels.

You are soooooo right Jon. Luckily Emmaline's chassis is not bent. As for a full face shield, NO, I don't wear one. God puts His hand in front of my face.......... . Well Gents, Happy Memorial Day to all!! I hope everyone is having a great Olive Drab weekend!!
I was able to make some serious progress today with the parts from "The Pretzel" and Emma. Boy I'll tell ya, I really hate cutting up a truck, but if its' parts will save another from the scrap heap I guess it's okay. Here are some more photos of today's fun! Enjoy.
I moved my crane and rear frame section from the pretzel into position.
I backed Emma into position and hoisted the frame section into place.
I used some bolts and nuts to index the frame section with the lower gussets. This helped align the section correctly.
I aligned things as best I could, did some measuring and adjusting and..........
......then I decided that it was high time that I gave the Boys at Kelley Welding a run for their money.
I haven't burned any wire in at least 18 months and boy, my welds were almost as bad as Bubbers !!!
But after a few inches and deep breaths, I settled in and things started running more smoothly.
It wasn't long before the welding was finished inside the frame and out, and the section was hanging on to the rear end very securely.
More to come Gents, stand fast!!

Well Gents, here's pt. 2 of Saturdays fun and games. This hoist had to GO !!! By the way, does anyone know which type of hoist this is?
RAUS UND AUF WIEDERSEHEN !! (OUT AND GOODBYE)
The two plates of 1/2" steel were between the pivot points and chassis to shim the hoist into place.
Here is the 3rd. cross member from the pretzel.
The rivets for the spring hangers had been replaced with mechanical fasteners a long time ago. I will be drilling the holes a little larger and using grade 8 N.F.T. fasteners within a few days.
I don't understand why the starboard frame rail looks bent, must be the camera. It is not bent one bit!!
Here it is, all secured in the frame and looking like a respectable rear chassis for a cargo truck once again.
It was a pretty day for makin' things right, yesterday was. I am happy to have been able to be outside, alive and working on an old rusty piece of gold!! Thanks for looking.

Super nice job Dave!
The rear frame section came out great, it that cored wire you used to weld it on? It's obvious that a lot of thought and preparation went into repairing that frame, again Nice job!

Thanks Guys!! I really do appreciate your enthusiasm. It's has been a little tough moving 1200 miles from my best friends in L.A., so you guys have helped a lot . ......And Jon yes, I am burning .035" inner shield wire in my old Lincoln Electric welder. It has 4 power settings A,B,C,D. I have found that the welder and this heavier W.W.2 era steel like power setting "D" and wire feed setting "2". I am able to get excellent penetration with great puddling. I will be grinding the welds smooth soon and will be wearing all of my P.P.E. !!

Hi Dave:
I just want to tell you how much I enjoy reading your Emmaline thread and seeing how you approach and accomplish tasks. I'm a lightweight guy, presently restoring a 1945 1/4-ton jeep and tinkering on a WC 3/4-ton Dodge. Nevertheless, its inspirational and instructive to me to see how get your equipment in place and get things done on Emmaline's heavier 1-1/2 ton metal. I love your workmanship in bringing her back to a Cargo Truck's life. Great job! Continue to have fun.

Thank You for your kind words Fred. I want to send another thank you back for a comment you made several years ago. "Not me, 25,995 members to go". Remember? I don't remember the number that you cited, but your comment was aimed at a troll who received disinformation about me and didn't even know me. He started a whirlwind of discourse here on the "G", but that was his normal modus operandi.
I found your very comment very funny, and I knew that you knew he was full of sheep dip. He did too.
Do you have a thread going on your Jeep? If so, will you direct me to it? I'd like to take a look at what you're doing. Dave.
