Re: G506 Mirror arm mount
I finally found one original mirror arm bracket. I sand blasted, painted, and installed today. I still need one for the passenger door.

Re: G506 Mirror arm mount
Gentlemen,
I'm happy to report back with a little progress from the mirror arm mount department,Please be advised, These are ROUGH DRAFTS, NOT FINISHED PRODUCTS.
The sheet stock used in the samples is 10 gauge .134". The original is made from real 1/8" .125" material thickness, modern 11gauge is .120". The incorrect material thickness has a lot to do with the dimensional discrepancies, which will be worked out. The correct material is available and we also talked about having the blanks water jet cut as opposed to plasma cut.
The #10 screw hole may be able to be pierced by water jet more likely has to be drilled. The die marks will have to be sanded out as well. The friction clamp blanks would probably be best cut by water jet and the 3/8" I.D. bushing has to be priced out. I'm going to send them a email in the next day or so with a more narrowed scope for pricing purposes. If anyone would like to chime in with questions, concerns or to just give me a hard time, feel free.

Re: G506 Mirror arm mount
Jon,
Great to see some product! Are all of the critical measurements the same as the original? If so, I think it looks great and should perform as original. Doesn’t the original bracket have die marks? The edges certainly look different than the stamped edges, but that can be remedied with a little filing and sanding. Now let’s hope the price is reasonable.
Overall it looks really good, thank you for undertaking this project.

The water jet cut edges will look better and the finished dimensions will be corrected with the right material thickness. I'm sure the pricing will be fair.

Re: G506 Mirror arm mount
Are you looking for a count yet on these?? Should also appeal to CCKW owners? Have you contacted any vendors to see if they're interested?? I know from a couple projects I'm working on that with water jetting quantity is a HUGE factor! BTW, I'll take one.

Re: G506 Mirror arm mount
Sorry guys,
The sample in the picture looks close but in reality it's not. The vendor and I felt that the blanks would have to be water jet cut and the correct gauge of material acquired and several other issues addressed in order to make a few dozen to 100 brackets. At the end of the day there wouldn't be any meat left on the bone for the vendor.
If i can get my act together this fall i will make some close replica's.

- No there not perfect, but the fit over the hinge real nice and all the important dimensions are right on the money.

Re: G506 Mirror arm mount
I would like two, would like accuracy. Bushing and other bracket not necessary. Cost is no concern.
