I think i might have been on that same one in the snow near Nurenburg. I think the stateside unit might have been 1st ID and i was 11th ACR. Just can't remember the year. might have been the 1984 Reforger though.

Re: Reforger to Germany
Reforger 86 as an OC watching an M113 armored Infantry unit from Mid West.
MUTT we were issued had holes in floorboard, I cut plywood for insulation, taped up the door seals and had to remove the thermostat myself with a small adjustable wrench I had brought, using two pieces of MRE cardboard in front of the rad to regulate engine air the rest of the way. Ripped out the taillight wires with snow chains, had to buy butt connectors and wire crimping tool at local auto supply shop to keep up running.
Froze butts off, recall seeing 82aBN in topless jeeps with canvas cut to cover driver and CDR area with them sitting in jeep, also had plywood side doors.

Re: Reforger to Germany
Like yesterday. Do remember the 8th from Mainz. Also remember my Army buddy's unit deploy from Ft. Hood, Tx 2nd Aromored Division Hell On Wheels sent over there on Reforger 76 while I was stationed in West Germany and doing some guard duty on those cold cold days and nights. Brings back memories, some good and some not so good.
