Completed Halftrack

Post by Hammerhead » Sat Sep 02, 2017 10:13 am

I finally got my White halftrack home July 30. 2017 from a complete body-off restoration. We were working on it in St. Louis for around a year and a half. I had a group of friends that gave invaluable help with it. It came off the assembly line in August 1943 as a M16 but was restored as a M3. I'll post some pictures.

The next to last picture shows the power steering that came with when I purchased it!

Hammerhead,
It looks like you did a great job in the restoration! I was always impressed with the guys that restore the heavy armor. I once tried to open the hood on a half track and I quickly realized how heavy the armored hoods are.
Enjoy,

You saved it well !!
Your workmanship is world class, and it looks like it could be in a museum, and just rolled off the assembly line !!
An inspiration to us all, and all who work toward restoring these incredible halftracks !

Congratulations to you, and all who helped you, on your mission to save this Great Historical Vehicle of Victory !!! :D :D :D :D

The power steering is a kit that was sold years ago by Southern Parts Co. It uses an Eaton power steering pump similar to those found in early Mustangs and commercial trucks. I've only seen about 3 or 4 in halftracks. I am looking for one complete kit to borrow or rent to reverse engineer to sell as a kit today. If anyone now of one or are willing to help out, hint, hint, I would greatly appreciate it. Below are the basics for the kit. Pretty simple but it would be cheaper to duplicate than to recreate parts.

Again, if you have one of these I am willing to do some trading or straight out rent the hole set up from you. Thanks
