New Lloyd White books of TBs and MWOs

Post by Fred Coldwell » Mon Apr 17, 2017 7:55 am

Lloyd White has just published 4 new softcover books containing reprints of Modification Work Orders and Technical Bulletins for numerous WW II military vehicles. Each book is 9 inches tall by 6 inches wide and is spiral bound so the pages lay flat when using it. Three of the 4 books contain MWOs and TBs pertaining to tracked vehicles. Those books that will be of interest to tracked vehicle owners are:

Modification Work Orders - Book 1. This book contains a very complete 83 page long list of Ordnance Department “G” numbers for military vehicles from 1918 to after WW II. With it you should be able to identify the obscure military vehicles to which belong all those odd-ball “G” numbered parts that have gathered in your basement over the decades. Book 1 also contains:

6 pages of MWOs on the G67 Scout Car.
346 pages of MWOs on the G102 Halftracks built by Autocar, Diamond T and White.
45 pages of MWOs on the G136 M8 Armored Car, and
72 pages of MWOs on the G147 Halftrack built by International Harvester Co.

Modification Work Orders - Book 2 contains a lesser number of MWOs about a greater number of tracked vehicles, including

19 pages of MWOs on the G148 Tank T9E1
44 pages of MWOs on the G150 M4 High Speed Tractor.
7 pages of MWOs on the G153 D8 Caterpillar.
41 pages of MWOs on the G158 M12 Motor Gun Carriage.
24 pages of MWOs on the G163 M18 Carriage Motor.
7 pages of MWOs on the G167 Landing Tracked Vehicle M11-LVT (2)
17 pages of MWOs on the G176 M20 Armored Car.
18 pages of MWOs on the G179 M29 Cargo Carrier.
56 pages of MWOs on the G501 Amphibian 2-1/2 ton (DUKW).
… and 299 pages of MWOs on various other popular soft-skinned WW II MVs.

Technical Bulletins contains War Department Technical Bulletins about tracked vehicles are follows:

6 pages of TBs 9-705 on the Scout Car.
118 pages of TBs 9-707 on the International Halftrack. For whatever reason, it seems many more TBs than MWOs were issued for the G147 International Halftrack.
17 pages of TBs 9-743 on the M8 and M20 6x6 Armored Cars.
4 pages of TBs 9-747 on the 155 Motor Gun Carriage
3 pages of TBs 9-750A on the 37 MM Anti-Tank Gun
… and 275 pages of TBs on 9 other popular WW II MVs.

Each individual book sells for $50.00 plus $15.00 postage for the first one. Postage for books 2 and 3 will have to be determined. If you purchase all four books before May 31, 2017 at the same time for $200.00, Lloyd will pay for the shipping for books shipped anywhere in the lower 48 states in the U.S.A.

To determine method of payment, please contact Lloyd at the email address seen on the bottom of the rear book cover above or write him at 16652 Springwater Rd., Oregon City, OR. 97045.

Information about the 4th new book for 1/4-tons can be found in the MANUALS subforum, here:

Lloyd will be at the Camp Petaluma MV swap meet this coming week and will have his four books for sale there sometime between April 18 and April 23, 2017. That means he will not be answering emails this later this week and during this weekend, so please have patience if you do not hear back from him quickly later this week. We don’t know his space number at Petaluma, but you can find the handsome gentleman pictured above close to his big red Dodge V10 pickup truck with Oregon license plates. Please stop by and check out these latest books. Thank you.

It won't be long before the veterans with military hands on experience are gone and these books will be all there is for one to get a feel of what the various WWII thru Korean era tactical vehicles were like.
The set of these 4 books will make good reading. Even though you may not own any of the vehicles involved you will gain insight into the Army's way of thinking and be more conversant with owners of MV's encountered at events.
