M4A1 restoration project in france
Hi everybody,
My name is Edouard Callerot, living southern britanny in france, i'm startiing an M4A1 restoration project. The vehicle is running very well, only have tege front body, missed me the rear one.
Frame number is 281822 built by white, iestimated 43-08
Also missed me the front roller or winch, are all the M4A1 with a winch ? ( On mine i got a hole in the front armor plate behind the radiator protection.
I think i should have the pedestal lights as i got the curve on the fender to alllow the hand passing for taking out them
I'send you photos soon.

Can't wait to see some pics. They're uncommon tracks.

Hi aron,
Are we sure that the m4a1 is equipped by a winch ? ( it would be much more easier to rebuilt it with a roller)
Are we sure that the m4a1 is equipped by pedestal lights ?

Re: M4A1 restoration project in france
My track was built as an M4 and converted to M4A1 during the war (I assume). My motor has a 1951 Texarkana Arsenal rebuild tag on it, so maybe it was converted in 51? Mine originally had fender mounted lights but were replaced with pedestal lights, and my track has the roller. It seems to me that new build M4A1's were manufactured with a winch.

So you think mine is a real M4A1 or a M4 then modified in M4A1?

Re: M4A1 restoration project in france
I'd say it was built as an m4a1, but I'd check with some of the serial # guys on this forum. Check the top thread, or post your serial. That will give you a good answer.
