Seems like they always make there way to being tow trucks or cranes.

Yup,
although some of them originally served as 'cranes'.

Here's some pics of the M2, that was restored by Mr. Nurmi in early -90's.
After he passed away last year, his family donated this restored M2 to finnish Armour museum, where i, having known Mr. Nurmi personally when he was alive, take special care of it.
Before.
During restoration.
After.

Your T-26 E4 / M7 is looking good Tom, I still have those parts for you and will drop them off the first time I'm in Belgium.
That's my T-36 up top. It would qualify for Tracked-Before - if I had any tracks. Stockpiling bits at the minute, so far I've identified two other survivors.
T-36 page is here;

You folks restoring a North American tracked vehicle have it way to easy.
Here is my Kettenkrad when it got dropped off in my driveway in 2009.
Here is the same vehicle two days ago that drove for the first time. Original Opel Olympia 1.5L motor, original carb (you can see it poking out of the rust in the arrival pics), and lots of new sheet metal.
^ Note the bullet strike along the gas tank flange. And did I happen to mention this is a
Battle of the Bulge vehicle according to the seller it was recovered in the Ardennes.

Wow, just to think, that you had a tracked vehicle delivered to your house on one shipping pallet! What are the odds?
That is a beautiful machine!
