I hope there's no heartburn in posting this here.. There is no "as found" in the Armor section.
After two full days of digging it out of a packed garage this M-20 gets it's first trip outside in 25 years.

I know it's not tracked, but an antacid or two should take care of anyones heartburn. Interesting looking find, what's the story?

I found this a few years ago while attending the MVPA Dayton show... (it indeed pays to read those tiny index cards taped on a vendors space)
The original owner got it in the early 80's and spent 10 years buying NOS parts then for one reason or another he never messed with it. It sat and was eventually covered up with 25 years worth of dust and misc storage. It took two days of digging to get it out of the gents garage and another full day gathering a truckload of NOS parts.
What we do for fun... Yahoo

Great find.

Did you bargain the deal with the guys wife?
.....hehe...:)

A fellow stopped to look at my track when I had it apart to the frame in the driveway, and my wife was out front working on her flowers. I over-heard Maria say to him "what-de-ya give me for it"

We just drug this halftrack home yesterday. The weather was perfect, and everything went extremely well. We decided to drag it home with my M37 beater as it was only 20 miles from my place. We purchased it from the gentleman that purchased it from the military in 1948 or so. His entire family turned out for the event and we had a great time. We took a ton of pictures. It was turned into a crane of sorts, but the frame is still good. They kept it shedded and it has been in storage for the last 26 years and we actually pulled it up to their shop, cleaned the points, checked the carb, filled it with water, changed the oil and then fired it up. We drove it quite a bit of the way home until the fan belt broke!!! We made sure to drag it home on country roads and while we were cruising at about 10 miles an hour, we looked over and there was another halftrack sitting beside an old building that had been made into a stretched crane!!! What are the odds of that? All in all, we had one hellofa fun time with the previous owners, took them out to eat, and then had a great trip home. It doesn't get any better. The original owner had some pics of it back in the day lifting a pig they were butchering, and then lifting the original rear bed, probably to take to the iron man, but he could not remember where it went. We are still smiling.

What is that plug in looking thing between the glove box door and the dataplate? It looks original.

Thats neat-o Jason, cool pics. That looks like it was a bunch of fun! Is the tire in the tow chain a shock absorber?

You are correctomundo on the shock absorber. My father came up with that trick from way back when. It sure helped take the jolt out of pulling and I was pretty impressed.

Jason,

Really cool find. Whenever I see halftracks made into trucks it makes me think of the RoadWarrior movie, not that there was one in there mind you that is just how my mind works. Neat trick with the spare tire, i will file that one away for future use!!

The doors on that thing look perfect. Did you check around for the windshield armor?

Bob; Those can be found in the "before and after" catagory. I know there are more restored, and wish more owners would post pictures there. Jesse.
