This is what it looked like out of the box. There was nothing extra, but then again, it was an opened box sale with no interior material, so ia ma unsure if original boxed carbs came with a bag-o-stuff :?

Thanks Oz, pictures tell a lot. The question was weather the small things like throttle linkage or fuel bowl or bowl bracket type stuff came with it on.

THe pics are as removed from the box. I'm not sure what one from an unopened box would look like. There was a G member selling a carb in a box. He might be able to tell what his is like.

Thanks for the pics. The bolts you are looking for are called hanger bolts. Ill try to send a picture of one. I found mine at Menards. My question is what size bolts did you use? 5/16 or 3/8? Also what type nails and what size? I seem to like 4 D and 6D hot dipped galvanized but was wondering what you use. Are you using select grade pine or just regular knotty pine?

Thanks for posting that image. I used 5/16 that gave me a little slop in case my drilling and measuring were not exact.

Yes, correct on nails, galvanized is what i used, same weight, used 1 1/4 to go through the 3/4 stuff and 2" to go through 1 1/2 boards.

I used regular grade pine, not the select as the crates would have been less aesthetically made.

Awesome I guessed perfect on the nails you had. I will try the 3/8 hanger bolts maybe but good to go either way. You must get some real nice wood because I see no knotts or such in your case so far. Our regular pin here is soooo crappy. Knotts, cracks, warpage but what kills me is the squareness sucks. I figured the better pine would be more of what they delt with back then as most was virgin cut? Sure would save a ton on the regular pine as just the bottom at this point would be 34.00.

Matt,
I used Home Depot's regular grade pine boards. I felt the select pine was just too nice for a crate. It looked more like furniture than a crate. There are several knots here and there, and you will probably see more once I get the sides and top done. Here is an image of the bottom, and again, I used screws in the bottom just for added strength. They will not show for display. I have done no weathering to the bottom, only the stain. It actually does not look much different from the tint on my ww2 ration crates.

Well I replaced the high end wood with cedar. We had a bunch that was rough cut and the color really gives it a old look. My only worry is that it tends to crack really easy if it gets to dry. In the original crate it seams the mount bolts seam to be centered on the rear engine mount. I wonder if the wood was ground a bit to allow the cases to set back further? I ended up using three pieces for the bottom my self.

Oz how did you determine where to mount the engine center wise?

To be honest, I guessed

I had no data what so ever regarding that dimension. The widest part on the distributor side is the timing housing. On the other side it is the genny. The total distance between the two is APPROX 10.50"

It looks like the mounting holes in the RS case are about right at the midway point from the genny end to the edge of the timer. I think if you put those holes smack in the center of the two mounting blocks (7.00" from the ends, you will be correct.

The distance between the two mounting holes is 2.50", so 7.00 - 2.50 = 4.50 which is the dimension i used for the LS case bolts.

This image should clear it up. JUST TO CLARIFY< THE PARALLAX IN THE IMAGE MAKES IT LOOK LIKE THE TIMER CASE IS EVEN WITH THE END OF THE MOUNTING BLOCK> IT IS NOT It justs sits up higher than the block and looks like it is even with the end>
