42WLA wiring

Post by fordm8 » Sat Feb 03, 2018 2:07 pm

Hello,

can someone confirm, that a 42 WLA series 1 only have one horn cable clamp 4703-38A vs later models had 2?

Thanks,

Ryck

My 1943 WLA parts manual calls out (2) for the 40WLA, 41WLA and 42WLA

One for the wiring loom from the handle bars on left side to the head light, horn and terminal plate and one for the right side loom, the dash wiring harness to the horn, blackout fender light and to the terminal plate.

Hope this helps.

Hi Craig,

what you describe is correcte for the 1942 and up build WLA's. For the November/December 1941 build WLA's I cant find an evidence of the clip on the right side from the dash to the horn and terminal plate in Bruce Palmers book.
Does some one have the correct parts-list to check?

Have a good Sunday,

Ryck

As Craig said already, later partslists like mine (oct 30 1943) say 2 clamps for all types..
Bit dark picture, and for some reason UPSD..?

Here is the picture of an November 1941 dated parts list. It shows horn wire clamp 1 on the 40WLA, 41WLA and 42WLA models. That seems to confirm my guess.

Thanks for the effort resolving this.
