DUKW Steering Gear Box Question
My steering gear box is leaking fluid around the shaft that the pitman arm is fastened to. It is leaking to the outside and running down the inside of the wheel well. Does anyone know if I remove the pitman arm can I get to the seal? Also if I remove the 4 nuts and reinforcing plate that is one the outside of the hull in the wheel well? I sure as heck don't want to remove the gear box to the inside as the rudder cable would be involved.

Re: DUKW Steering Gear Box Question
The right way to do this is to remove the lot, and replace the seal on the bench.
99.something percent of DUKW owners would just drill the fill plug for a zerk, gun the steering box full of grease and top up with oil though.
