Does DUKW without armor requires export licence?

Post by TadeO » Thu Jul 21, 2016 5:23 am

Hi, wondering of above as I'm getting different messages. How much licence could cost if any? Slightly off the topic- did anyone try to place it on a container when shipping overseas?

Doubt that would fit in a container.....more likely will go as deck cargo.....at about twice the rate for the container....Try Main Freight Owens (in Chicago I think) for info on shipping to Europe from the US....lots of different ports Houston, Nawlins, Charleston, etc.

You definitely require an export license to ship any ex military vehicle out of the U.S.. That's what I was told when I shipped a G506 Chevrolet 1-1/2 ton 4x4 to Australia a couple of years ago.
If I remember correctly I paid an agent $150 to get the permit for me after I had made an attempt to get it myself and failed. The Feds didn't seem to want to talk to anyone outside the country.

I don't think that loading duck sideways is a good idea. I understand that worked for that one in the link, but ours is full of liquids etc.. I got few quotes 11 to 13,5 K USD to ship it to Europe. Paperwork seems will be resolved by the shippers but they charge 1k for doing that.
