Can it be repaired? A replacement may require line boring which may affect the alignment of the rear seal.

Main caps can be replaced with others. Do not just install it!
A competent machine shop can "line bore" all the caps to restore proper dimensions.
I will check the parts storage later in the week and let you know if I have a cap loose for you.

I would say no. The damage is right in the middle right were the seal presses in. I'll try to attach a photo here in the next day or two. This is one of those "ready to run" from a dealer in Texas. Glad I took it apart before I installed it. Judging from the fact that most every nut and bolt were loose (to include rotating assembly) I'd say someone saw the damage and flipped it. I'm not mad just glad I did once over.

Is there a piece broken out of the outside of the oil seal groove? This is a common occurance resulting from attempting to pry the rear main bearing cap loose with a screwdriver or pry bar. It happens a lot. Machine shops have a process to repair this type damage and machine the repair.
