WTK CJ2A value

Post by clintm20 » Mon Feb 20, 2017 6:11 am

I have been wanting a jeep for a long time. I found a running cj2a yesterday and I really like it. It has some type of belt drive pto and the original counterweight is still mounted on the front frame horns in front of the grille. It has rust issues but for Florida not bad AT ALL. What would be a fair offer? This is not for me to flip but something for me to drive and have fun with. He bought it off a used car lot in my hometown many years ago. Appears to be bone stock under the hood, really everywhere. Original paint never been repainted from what I can see. It has the indents on the body on the drivers side like a ww2 mb or gpw so it's a 46, all the data plates and its road legal.
Thanks.

If it has indents it is pretty early looks like it is very original. I would see if 2k get's you anywhere. Just not sure what he knows about values. I personally would probably pay 3.5k tops. Not that it isn't worth more just my gut.

Is it a column shift too? The governor and pto parts have significant value. Hopefully if it is a decent survivor, you keep it just the way it is. If you do decide to flip it, pm me. I've been looking for one for awhile. Post more pics when you get it. Good luck.

...oh, and that Sparton horn...nice!

Howdy,
A picture showing the interior instruments and column shift, if still in place, would answer some questions. Could you also get pictures of the rear PTO assembly and the front weight.

Seems to be a great find . This looks like a very early 46 given the long trumpet horn.
The extra bits - king seeley governor, belt pulley and front weight are really great additions and make it desireable.

I have to believe that is a very early 2a as the captured nut on the hood hinge (an hold over from military stock) was only on the earliest 2a's. What is the serial #? I would like to try and pin down when that hinge changed.

Sorry been busy yes it is a column shift and the data plates are still on it I could not read them it is under a shed and it was cloudy that day. I love this jeep more by the day. The welting on top of the grille is still there. It has the indents on the drivers side under the door. At first I thought it was an Agrijeep lol. I'm going to make him an offer will see what happens. I'll let you know how it goes and post more pics.

Any updates on this?

If you do get it, will it make its way to Colorado? I would love to see it.

So I'm still working on trying to get this. I made an agreement to work on one of his other jeeps, a later cj2a for consideration towards the other. Anyway I was there again today and checked the serial number. It's very early the serial number begins with a '10'. It has the original yellow wheels too.

You've got to post more pictures. This looks like a good one.
