I'm still trying to decipher what I have for engine/Manifold/Etc I recently purchased
the story with my engine:
Looking at the block the serial numbers are: 804380-W-13-D-P5
Block raised serial stamped pad: T-215156
the head says its an industrial engine.
No problem, gonna use it anyway.. thats not my issue, althought if anyone knows more about this engine, I am all ears!
I purchased this from the PO who's father was a Jeep nut. he is cleaning up the garage after the guys death. so he knows nothing about anything except when he remembered driving the jeep with the motor before dad pulled it out.
He remembered it was a rebuilt motor before he pulled it from the rusted out-bodied jeep it came out of, to use in a future project...and then he stored it.
that's all he knew about the engine. other than it ran very well and he beleived it was a rebuilt unit..
and it looks to have been rebuild. valve cover side cover off and all looks extremely new and clean.
block is as you see it.. nice and clean.
Here is where I am confused with manifold and carb combination:
when I bought the engine, he had the manifold attached, but no carb.. he found this Carter WO later and gave to me.
Carter: model W-O
Serial number in base casting: 1-458
this carter fits this manifold just fine. Stud to stud size is 2-3/8"
is this the correct manifold?
and is this carter WO the proper carb? I mean it fits the manifold fine..
BUT.. I also have a SOLEX carb and it measures on the base,, 2-5/8" hole to hole.
and it was supposed to come off a running jeep...
BUT.. what jeep motor I ask? or manifold?
did Willys make a few different manifolds with mounting sizes for the L-134?
or is this Solex from say a 6 cyl Willys truck engine perhaps?
wont fit my manifold of course but wonder... is this the correct sized manifold I SHOULD be seeking to run on my jeep? one that fits this Solex?
OR is the Carter WO that I have pictured the correct carb to use?
thank you

Engine and Manifold pics:
Manifold has only one casting number: A1163-2
looks like anyway to me.

Re: Help: id proper manifold/carb size
Typically the manifold for an generator/industrial willy motor had a manifold with a smaller throat. The Carter carbs had a different screw setting on the carb for use with a governer. The head is a low compression head and you will defintely want to change that. Also the "T" prefix was used as an identifier for a Willy truck engine.

Re: Help: id proper manifold/carb size
Ok.. Thanks for responding.
So I guess I got a mismatched set here:
- Willys truck engine block
- industrial head
So I know it will all work together, but that carb...
I mean it's a carb number used on CJ jeeps, right?
I mean it has a WO body and 458 bottom.
Same as CJ.. Or were there different base part numbers (I.e throat sizes)
Can anyone tell me then if this sized carb vase is correct or should I be looking for a larger manifold ?
