Fuel tank question plastic vs metal

Post by 42GPW » Wed Feb 15, 2017 3:10 pm

Ok. Im looking at purchasing a polyurethane plastic type reproduction tank for my 2a instead of the traditional metal tank. What are your thoughts?

Whichever you buy, make certain it is CLEAN with no debris inside it. Plastic offers up grounding issues you need to pay attention to.

The steel tank goes right in, fits in the location provided (usually), the stock fuel line hooks right up, and the gas gauge may not need an extra ground wire. From what I've heard, none of these are true of the plastic tanks available. That said, some guys like them. JMH$.02 BW
