Gemco Trailer
Hello All
Do any of you have an original Gemco trailer? I'd like to ask some questions regarding fittings. So if any of you have one and are willing to answer a few questions relating to the trailer please let me know
regards Nick

Re: Gemco Trailer
DId American Central Manufacturing produce the frames and tubs for all of the late 1945 G529 manufacturers?
Or did any of them take the drawings and actually build their own frames and tubs?
If they didn't make their own frames and tubs, how much actual manufacturing of parts did these small production trailer manufacturers really have to do, was it really just final assembly and painting of sourced sub-assemblies and parts?
Has any ACM company documentation every surfaced on the G529 production in 1945?

Re: Gemco Trailer
I had Gemco #529 (oddly enough) and the dod was 5-45. It had an ACM number.

Re: Gemco Trailer
Chuck and any of you gemco owners I,d like to know if the original wiring on the gemco was cotton covered (Bantam) or tape covered (Willys) I'm guessing Bantam but would appreciate confirmation please. Also a couple of questions regarding reflectors. The bezal mfr,s name? The shape of the bezal? Also the name of the plastic reflector manufacturer? Thanks.
regards Nick

Re: Gemco Trailer
What was left of the wiring on mine was covered with cotton electrical tape. The wiring itself had cotton type insulation. The reffectors were original on mine and the were round Corcoran Brown bezels with Grotelite NO 100 lenses. The reflectors were mounted with a dollop of putty between the bezel itself and sheet metal of the tub, no lead washers.

Re: Gemco Trailer
Bill's GEMCO is one of several VERY intact examples reported in my data base. The data plate even refers to the Bantam parts manual rather than the Willys thereby confirming they (and the 1945 production G529s) were following the "Tao of Bantam".
