WW2 Lunette ?

Post by WP1 » Sun Sep 10, 2017 4:25 pm

This lunette is on my M100. It looks like it might be WW2. Anybody ever see this casting number on one ? "43" dated ? If so what's a WW2 lunette selling for these days, I'd rather put the correct M100 lunette on it anyway.

Looks to be correct for a ww2 trailer, thin neck.

I think around $200 ? Here in Europe at least 200 Euros.

OP, one in that condition is worth considerably more than $200.00 here in the US. They are just about nonexistent anymore. I've witnessed the sale of an NOS lunette for $350.00.

wait a minute OP. I too had a "wwii correct" lunette in my M100. It was indeed ALSO correct for M100's with the early features.

Do you have a IV cable box, or brackets for it? Do you have a FEMALE plug on the lower left (facing) the front of the trailer? (location of the IV cable plug is the same spot as the WWII BO light switch on the trailer). If the answers to these questions is YES, and your serial number is kinda low, then KEEP that luenette where it is if you are restoring the M100.

Also, if you do not retain your registration number, good luck getting it. I owned my trailer for a couple of YEARS and got ZERO assistance with a DOD number based on my known SN and manufacturer.

The acf 43 is made by American Car Foundry...and is a legit WWII supplier...and was OK on the early M100s.
