I think we let that little detail slip based on the repro units that were breaking a few years ago.

Yup, we were discussing the Forge marks.

It is forged from AISI C1045 HR STEEL-Fine Grain.
It is hardened by quenching in oil and drawn to a Brinell hardness of 192-241

Forgings must be free from loose scale, cold shuts or laps and any indication of overheating or burning.

They are to have the following physical properties:

Tensile Strength = 100,000 PSI
Yield Point = 68,000 Pounds
Elongation 20%
Reduction in area 50%

and... to Answer Fred's question, the WO-6682 was not specified as forest green, but was the identical part painted with Murphy's Glyceral phthalate flat green, N.U. 6547 or equivalent

And the Brinell Hardness Test is evidenced by the grind mark and the ball impression on the neck of the Lunettes.

I looked that up and it said it was for waterproofing?

So, this is like a primer/waterproofer and they painted the parts forest green after assembly like the rest of the NOM trailer?

Yes, it was a PRIMER, but it was different than the 6370 which had a lusterless OD Primer...

Glyceral Pthalate is another technical term for good old fashioned Alkyd Enamel.

Directly related update from MBT restoration thread:

viewtopic.php?f=141&t=282888&start=15

Ray found a distinct similarity between the Dodge Weapons Carrier bolt heads and the marking on this lunette.

Ray, "The Dodge Bolts head logo looks like what you have there . DPCD = Dodge, Plymouth,Chrysler, DeSoto I really think you discovered something great !! "

So the theory is that this is the Chrysler Foundry mark. Meaning that this lunette may have been forged there.
