THOSE SWISS MBT/BT3 TRAILERS-GONE ARE THE DAYS. PART II
Winter's around the corner, it's headed to the stable for storage.
This is my Swiss return from Frank Paciullo back in 2005 and the pic requested. I bolted on all the NOS MBT parts I had saved for years.
NOS PARTS:
Fenders
Wiring Harness
Slave Cable (NOS w/fabric loom)
Parking Brake Handle and Cable.
Reflectors w/Lead Washers (NOS Arrows w/Grotelite 100 were installed as I ran out of NOS C-B w/Grotelite 100)
A-612 Springs (NOS)
WWII Gabriel Adjustable Shocks
CB Tail Lamps
WWII Lunette
Drain Plug
Valve Stem Protectors
New 600X 16 NDT's
And Much More................

Hey Ben:
What kind of canvas top (with the framed rear window and presumed venting flap)is on your WW II jeep? Is that a Korea era winter top? Or something else? Any manufacturer or part number? Please identify it for me. Thank you!

Re: THOSE SWISS MBT/BT3 TRAILERS-GONE ARE THE DAYS. PART II
Hi Fred,
That is ORDNANCE Part No. 7721446, COVER, top, w/rear CURTAIN, assy.. It is part of ORDNANCE Part No. 5701207 KIT, Enclosure, Top and Side Curtain.
This top replaced WO A-3216 COVER, Top, w/rear CURTAIN, assy... The 1951 dated SNL7 reference to A-3216 says to "issue until stock is exhausted, then to use COVER 7721446.
It is Postwar developed in the 40's. The framed window is made of plastic. The Flap was to exhaust an early SW 978 Gas Heater that was adapted to the rear compartment of the MB.
These tops were surplused with an MWO to sew the Flap shut. I bought this from the nice people at Surplus City in the early 70's when I was wholesaling Jeep parts to fellow surplus dealers.
Surplus City offered these tops in the early "Supply Lines" for $67.00 It is made of heavy Duck and is the Prototype used for a pattern at one of the Canvas Manufacturers. I do not have the rest. There is no stenciling on the canvas, the treated Barrier Paper wrapper that it was sealed in only had the ORD Part NO. stamped on it.
Not sure what grade of canvas used on the 7721446, but it has been off and on my MB since at least 1973 and has never shrunk. I store it in a cool dry place when not in use and make it a practice to leave it on for the entire driving season so as not to cause extra wear and tear.

And it had all of the blessings of the Odd Squad who gave it a grand send off for its coast to coast journey with Weebie and Manny Rogers. Ii pays to have lots of friends in the hobby. I am pleased with the finished product.
One more detail about the flap on the rear of the Top, I have seen quite a few of these tops over the years, the flaps have been observed on either side.

Here is mine Joel. I bought it from Tom King of Seymour Indiana. Had I left it unrestored it would have been a better fit in my collection. I sold it a couple of years ago.

Wasn't getting at anything. Asking about the flap and whether it was for the exhaust on the heater unit and then realized you had said that.

Bill, is there any connection between that trailer and the famous Bob N. folding chair?

Re: THOSE SWISS MBT/BT3 TRAILERS-GONE ARE THE DAYS. PART II
The only drawbacks to the Swiss trailers were the special wheels which had NOS European grooved NDT's. some had the small ring lunette and a replacement fender that was close but not close enough. Wireing was not original and many had modified tail lamps which were missing. dimples and wavy floorboards were the norm.
Frakn Paciullo was very up front, and the ultimate horsetrader who was most likely second to none.
