I’m fairly certain this is what was mentioned in Half Mast. I’ve seen these placed as front floor mats in Jeeps and GPA’s too.

Given the huge numbers of wooden crates sent to the front carrying everything from Ammo to Spare Parts....it would not be too hard to scrounge something to put into the trailer bed. Also, as our forces advanced, what wasn't destroyed by the Germans when they arrived or when they left or destroyed by allied bombing or allied forces advancing would probably have been fair game for scrounging as well. Things like doors come to mind here....all ya need is a barn door and a saw.

If you don't do the wood angle. This stuff is probably best on market

The key to carrying stuff in the trailer is to secure it so it does not roll around like a BB in a boxcar.
...
I am reviving an old thread to ask how people do secure stuff in their trailers without adding tie downs or such? I am fixing up a Bantam T3-C to use and have been wondering about this question for a while. Thanks for any suggestions you might have.

Something like this would be easy to use and no marring or drilling

Good thought. That one is too long- Bantam is only 38" wide. Maybe it could be cut down without too much trouble. I wonder if the trailer sides could take enough force to hold without bending out- they aren't super stiff. Could maybe mount a couple close to the floor and use straps. Thanks for the comment.

I would fine tune a search for something like this. I have seen them used on jobs as they are quick. You could ditch the J hook and put in an eye bolt.

90 lbs on the magnet ain't to shabby. 4 of them with one of those small cargo nets and you could keep a lot of stuff corralled.

That's a great idea. A search turned up this site- I had no idea there were so many possiblities: https://www.magnetsource.com/Catalog%20 ... ce_cat.pdf Thanks for the tip.

Have you put your trailer in the database here?

I sent some information to Art. The info hasn't shown up on the web page yet. The serial number on the data plate is not totally clear- there is a discussion of that in my CJ2A build thread: https://www.thecj2apage.com/forums/new- ... 42731.html Maybe that is why he hasn't posted it yet. I would be interested in any opinion you (or others) have about the number.

Pretty much anything after 2000 is the same. If you think the rims are original and you ever remove the tire then look for a date code on inside.

Again, putting anything in on the floor is pretty much directed to one or more of these reasons:
1) to hide the "waves" in the floor
2) to stop stuff sliding
3) to prevent further damage

I've seen 'em sprayed with bed liner stuff and under-coating stuff. Some show up with OD painted sheet of plywood, some with "duckboards" (be they painted or not), some with a carpet and some with some type of rubber matting. Again, unless someone sees the floor of the trailer under the tarp you have tied to it, who knows and who cares....my only observation is that if it is stored outside, you need to remove anything that might hold water and lead to rust and you need to set the landing leg on something to get any water that gets in there to exit the drain at the rear.

If you have had duckboards or plywood or something like that, you may have rubbed through the paint on the high spots so before you cover it up, be sure to lightly sand, prime and repaint any bare metal.

Hey, its up to you to either put something in there or not!

I haven't fully restored my Ben Hur yet, but on a recent move, we purchased a shower rod that is adjustable for length by screng the rod in and out. We cut it to approx. width of the trailer and put the rubr eaps back on. Srewdit out to sug fit and it kep the boxes in place. Not the most military looking item, but we could paint it OD green if we elect to use it after the trailer is ready for display.
