Just got M422A1 # 2310, hood # 306918, Del. Date blank on dash plate. Not very confident about year of manufacture - CA registered it (in 1984) as a 1963, but that doesn't seem to jibe with the S/N and Hood#.

Looked at CJ5s for years, never drove one that seemed safe. Saw a few M151s, just didn't quite look like the ones we had at Marble Mountain, VN. Saw this one and KNEW it is the right model. Paint a bit ratty - how much "value" is lost by getting a better paint job? Just curious. Planning on having some fun with it.

Hi Ron,
Our M422a1 Build # 37651 USMC 308160 hood & rear, build date - - 61 only, also front & rear is also a blue V with 730 above it.
The info we receaved with it was that three Mite's were given to the Duck River Indian Resivation to do with what they wanted. A man bought the three & sold one to the family we got it from.
It changed hands three time to family members over 30 years. Then he saw our wanting a Mighty Mite add & we got it to New Zelalnd November 1999. It had 20 000 miles on it.
I did a mechanicel make over & we have been driveing it off & on ever since. Not meany miles, try 4000 miles.
regards Stephen Davis.

Stephen, does your Mite have a AMC applied serial number? The rebuild (five digit) is one number too many.

Hi Bill, Yes I needed to put my glass's on.
On the dash plate, MFR serial # 3757 Not a rebuild number, But a build number.
I think this would be the AMC applyed serial #. This should be what you are after.
Thanks again, Stephen.

Yes, that would be a good number. Mine is #3047. Is the ruck number original (308160)?

Hi Bill,
Yes it has it's original paint & numbers, both sides of hood & on the rear bumper. All the lights & gauges original.
Had to put after market fuel gauge & sender in the tank. I should get correct from Ron.
I also put a thermo sender wire under number four spark plug & gauge in the dash to moniture the temp, this is more accurate than a excess temp sender in the oil, as by the time the light comes on the damage is done.
Thanks Stephen

Ah, the grand slam! Serial number and ruck? Two thumbs up!

I would be interested in how you did the thermo wire as mine has a bulb and capillary temp gauge in it and mounted under the dash next to the starter knob. Can you PM me? TIA
