Mule serial #
Is there a serial number stamped in the frame or somewhere on the mule and where is it? I bought a mule and it has no tags on it so I don't even know what model it is! Thanks

No, not stamped any place other than the data plate. Post some photos and we'll see if we can figure out what you have. 2-cylinder or 4-cylinder?? 2-wheel steer or 4-wheel steer?? Magnesium or aluminum deck??

I appreciate the help. I will try post some pictures but I usually have trouble reducing the size. What parts are important to take pictures of to identify the model? It is 2 cyl, mag deck, 4 wheel steer.

The brake drum, the rear deck supports between the frame tubes, and the rear of the deck.
If it is a 2-cylinder and 4-wheel steer, it's one of three models: M274A2, or a converted 4-cylinder model, i.e., M274A3 or M274A4. If it has the small brake drum, it's an M274A3 (converted M274) If it has the large brake drum, look for the 4 holes in the RR of the deck where the right muffler was mounted. If you find the holes, it's an M274A4 (converted M274A1),It will also have 2" spacer blocks on the rear deck cross support. If no holes or spacer blocks, it's an M274A2.
Can you see the registration number that was painted on the LR and RF side of the deck? If you can find the painted registration number, I can tell you more.

Bubba has worked on the fuel system. Do all mules have the hand primer or just cold weather ones? How about the Gascolator? Mine has neither, but it also had a HUGE hose from the carb T to the gas tank instead of the microscopic steel line. Thanks for the help. Al Hansel

If it does not have the 2" spacer blocks at the rear deck mounts, I agree that it's an A2.
Series 1 4-cylinders all had a cold weather priming pump, but it was an attachment for the 2-cylinders, and is rarely seen. Check this thread:

All the 2-cylinder engines use the fuel sediment bowl (Gascolator). There is also a fuel filter on the pickup tube inside the fuel tank.

Return line from the carb "T" to the fuel tank should be 1/8"
