A-1195 TRANSFER CASE- CORRECT NOMENCLATURE

Post by Joe Gopan » Fri Mar 09, 2018 4:08 am

Have noticed reference to the Transfer Case as "T-18". Where did the "T" come from. It was made by Spicer, only the Timken Transfer Case Models use the prefix "T".
The TM's and SNL's refer to the unit as "Spicer-18".

That's a good question Joel. I also have seen them referred as such in the past.
My initial thought is that its a mistake when anyone refers to it as a T18. Possibly someone thinking of Borg-Warner model number designations. (ie T-84,T-90 and so on.) But who knows.
