Licencing a MV in Pa.
Just picked up a 52 M38 and wondering the best way to licence it ? Pros and cons of regular or antique plates. Not going to be everyday driver just an occasional and parade driver. Also thoughts on insurance ? Thanks in advanced

Just registered my MB in PA. Went with Antique Plate, no annual registration or inspection. I called my insurance agent and had it added as a "pleasure" vehicle to my auto policy for a stated value, it added $300 to my annual premium.

My GPW is registered in PA as an antique. All I had to do to confirm the title number was trace the data plate number and I was given the tag right away. No inspection required and a one time registration fee. My insurance is through JC Taylor and the premium is around $150 for the year. I definitely recommend this route if you're only going to use the jeep for occasional fun.

I'm still searching for a 43 PA tag myself, so haven't gone the vintage plate route yet. If you end up doing that, let us know how it goes!

PA became a YOM state a couple years ago. We registered our '42 Ford Sedan using a "42 PA plate. Nothing to it, you do need a good, legible plate, an image of the plate to send in to Harrisburg, and it is more expensive, like $70 some dollars. Having a license service that knows what they're doing helps, we used BEST Auto.

My 42 gpw is titled as an antique with a 1942 plate. Just make sure you verify that the number is clear on penndots verification page before you buy the plate.

I do not believe there is a 1943 plate. Looks like PA issued a small red tag to be installed on the 1942 to save steel for the war effort.

Alphado is correct, PA issued a small red tag to go on the '42 plate for the war years. We have one on ours.

Huh, this explains why I could only find '42 plates on eBay and '43 little red tags. Makes sense!
