STEERING COLUMN BEARING

Post by Joe Gopan » Tue Oct 17, 2017 2:07 am

When considering any repairs that require removal/disassembly of the Steering Gear or removal of the steering wheel, always replace the bearing in the jacket under the steering wheel.
Original WWII Part No. was 639990 and has morphed to 801422. These bearings are sold under both part numbers. There was a chance in the construction over the years. These are inexpensive and will eliminate steering wheel side play caused by old worn bearings.
