So, Communist China wants to buy Jeep

Chinese automakers covet FCA

Answering Beijing's call for foreign acquisitions

DETROIT — For more than two years, FCA has been FSBO — that's For Sale By Owner — with no serious offers.

Not anymore.

Representatives of a well-known Chinese automaker made at least one offer this month to buy Fiat Chrysler Automobiles at a small premium over its market value, Automotive News has learned. The offer was rejected for not being enough, a source said.

Meanwhile, other sources independently identified executives from other large Chinese automakers conducting their own due diligence on a potential purchase of FCA, including meeting last week with representatives of U.S. retail groups about a potential acquisition. A source said FCA executives have traveled to China to meet with Great Wall Motor Co. And Chinese delegations were seen last week at FCA's headquarters in Auburn Hills, Mich.

Thanks Rob. You just made my day !!
Chrysler, ( and Jeep ) which was later bought buy Fiat, just built a new transmission plant a mile from my house. It is less than 5 years old.
I can walk out on my porch every morning and there it is. I live in the country. At least for now and I have a great view.
I have watched it being built and put into full operation. And I have watched the owners go from U.S. to Italian and now maybe to Chinese.
I love America !! Really !!! The land of opportunity !!!!
As long as they pay their taxes, the local government is happy and no one else seems to care.
Well almost no one. Maybe I am just getting old ??

Not too many years after Chrysler acquired Jeep, some people would tell you that Chrysler invented the jeep, so I can imagine in the future the misinformed will think China invented the jeep.

True Steve, AMC's legacy has mostly all rusted away by now.

At least many of the AMX's and Javelins are saved. Even fewer of the Rebel Machine's or Hurst Rambler Scramblers or Hornet SC360's are left.
