Rosie the Riveter - Betty Samson

Post by Mark Tombleson » Sun Jul 23, 2017 12:20 pm

Looking at the thread on the Rose the Riveter (Rosie Rally) made me think of contact I continue to have with a real Rosie, named Betty Samson.

Here story is here, all 50 pages and it is interesting.

She road with me in the Auburn Veterans Parade a couple of times.

I have had reports she is still riding in the parade and I wish her good health!

Mark,

Betty is quite the gem. I believe she rode with us in the 2016 Veterans Parade, but I only found a 2015 picture with her in it, so I can't confirm that. My wife bumped into her this last spring while shopping, so she is still out and about.

Here she is in 2015 in Tim B's Jeep. Note that she is wearing one of her original uniforms, possibly the one from the lower photo. At least I like to think so:

And as she looked back in the day at McClellan Air Base at Sacramento CA:
