JC Taylor Insurance No Longer a Good Option

Post by Gryphos » Fri Mar 03, 2017 8:31 am

JC Taylor has insured many historic military vehicles for me, going back to the 90's and most recently 2014. Things have clearly changed. It's time to go elsewhere for military vehicle insurance. Today I got the runaround of a lifetime. I'm trying to insure my 1974 Mowag Roland, which is identical to the vehicle they insured in 2104. This time, however, I was told "we can no longer insure that kind of vehicle". I asked exactly what that means. I explained that I need some objective criteria so as to correctly relay the information to my various clubs and the community. I strongly suspect the underwriter was just making things up. I was told it's too heavy. I asked the weight limit. I was told 3/4 ton. I explained that that's a weight rating and my Mowag does have a 3/4 ton drivetrain. I was then told 2000 lbs! Seriously? The curb weight of my Chevy Silverado 2500 is 5700 lbs! When I pressed for clarification I was put into voice mail purgatory. No call back yet. At this point I am assuming that JC Taylor is no longer insuring military vehicles. I'll update if I get clarification from them, but I know evasion and avoidance when I see it. Avoid the aggravation and go elsewhere. It's been great @JCTaylorGenInsurance

Probably the NFG....

Why not call Haggarty? Matter of fact I think my Haggarty policy is with JC Taylor on my GPW.

My JC Taylor policy for my GPW is around 160/year, too. Out of everywhere I checked, they seemed to come in as the cheapest and didn't really question the vehicle at all prior to issuing the policy.

A policy is only as good as they pay off a loss/repair. Don't measure it by cost.
