How about the things you DON'T mount because you don't want to bother with the questions?
I had a M1919 mounted on a pedestal mount and I got sick to death from all the questions about it. So many people would declare it was 'illegal' for me to have even a dummy MG mounted like that (even in a parade or display), I got sick of it, and sold the mount.
Or how about wire protection on the front bumper? I explained what that vertical bar was on a pal's Jeep at a show once, and I got a ver unfavorable reaction at just explaining what it was for. War's nasty, folks, deal with it. But after hearing the same guy having to explain it all day long, I can't see me having one on mine...

I removed the M-31 and stored the M2 BMG due to the uneasiness the public is experiencing over terror. I frequently visit the ANG Base and park by the Dow Field Hangar 1 to watch air traffic. It is next to State Police HG and General Aviation Terminal. Why ask for trouble?

Hello,

Here you are an "accesory" that makes a lot on conversation around a military jeep.

Sounds beautiful and is music to my ears. Many of us who grew up in the 40's had Victrolas in our houses and that is what we were accustomed to.

Here's an earlier version of that tune:

Here is the song both versions are based on:

I kinda like the Lil Green version with the new lyrics...

but....Dr. Gregory House has a pretty mean version also:

I don't know how "AUTHENTIC" OD color mouse traps are, but I could certainly see how injuring a person with a boobytrap would start a conversation.
Although it may not be a "GOOD CONVERSATION".

Looking for one of those C-Ration packs of GI Toilet Paper to display in my MB glove box to add to my "conversation starter" items.
Unused please.

A demilled Luger pistol will also make for some pretty interesting conversation if you have one in the glove box.
Practice grenades also have been known to generate a high level of conversation if left in the glove box.
On second thought, maybe an OD mousetrap in the glove box will suffice to start a good conversation around the jeep...

I've got a Ford script on the rear panel, jerry can, .50 cal Browning mounted, a Thompson Sub-machine gun in the rifle rack, two gernades hanging from the mg mount, a GI can opener and .30 cal spent brass on the key chain, my father0in0laws unit markings and early USAF star on the front bumper and my fathers unit markings on the rear bumperettes, MVPA sticker on windshield/hat/shirt.

Nothing generates more conversation or interest than just opening up the hood!

And what would the visitors do if they had no pockets in their pants?

Been looking for one of the Army Victrolas for some time, found one a month ago at the Red Ball show, but a little expensive for my wallet since it had a cracked case. I have a good civilian one I bring along sometimes, but usually have my period looking radio with the guts swapped out to take input from my cell phone. Just found a Skitch Henderson version of "Little Bo Peep has lost her Jeep" that makes people stop and listen.

WWII Issue Dog Tags hanging from the windshield also make interesting conversation, especially if they are yours or a relatives. One of those WWII Red Cross issued decks of playing cards adds to the theme, they came in cellophane wrapped red boxes.

Personally, I think just the jeep itself is a good conversation starter! Just the jeep...restored as it was when it left the factory or as was in service during WWII. No need for all that extra Goochie gear.
