TS Card makes a good addition to your Jeep display. TS Cards were usually the responsibility of the 1st Sgt or Chaplain.

Remember, having DO-DADS will create envy among those new to MV. They did not come all that quick and are stretched out over a lifetime of collecting. In my case, some of the M-38A1 nice stuff was picked up starting in the 50's.

The Cone type .50 BMG Flash Hider is always a good conversation piece.

A box of 10 sealed in wax WWII Firestone F-40 Spark Plugs to display with your MB/GPW will look mighty nice, a set installed in your engine will make good conversation.

Original WO-A-971 (hard rubber) Gear Shift Knobs on your Transmission and Transfer Case Shift Levers make good conversation and can have a story to tell especially if they have been stolen.-They are a "hot" item at shows.

Headed to the local Hardware store for some old fashioned Wooden Mouse and Rat Traps to set in the MB tool and Glove boxes. Figure 3 in each location will do the job. Will paint them OD and try the mouse traps first. This should take care of light fingered MV enthusiasts and maybe strike up a conversation.

Ben, I have sent you stuff before for your trucks...so I am not being mean..might want to rethink the mouse trap...a small child gets hurt, you will give the vehicle collecting a black eye.....I am sure the parent would give you one....here in North Carolina, after the parent got though with you, the police will also want to chat with you for setting a trap to injure some one.....seen here with a neighbor who set traps out for kids. Moms were outside his house as they took him away....just saying rethink the mouse trap. As a parent, I do not know what I would do if you hurt my little girl with a trap you set.

Do Dads "that make good conversation" . It works, doesn't it Frank, got some conversation going. Also have a realistic rubber rat that will give a good jump start to those who like to "peek" inside Jeeps.

I find that not having all the "usual do-das" and attachments creates conversations, as mine is a 42 people often ask why I don't have a jerry can on the back, or rifle holder on the inner windshield, explaining that they weren't fitted as standard on an early 42 leaves people amazed as they are iconic items that everyone thinks were on all jeeps.
I also have the first aid box fitted between the seats which people love to see.
Nice idea of the can opener, I have one at home somewhere so I'll have to dig it out and hang it from one of the knob.

I can't say I've been as lucky. When I park next to another G503 with 'do-dads' on it, mine usually gets skipped over by the crowds, even if it's more authentic overall. I've even had people say that it looks like I'm still missing parts, such as the windshield rifle carrier (even though I've got a 4/43 GPW which didn't come with the holder from the factory, instead of asking why mine is different from the others. I explain those types of things to the few people that stop and look at mine, but most people still seem to be more interested in all the extras that other people's jeeps have rather authenticity. Oh well I guess :(

Mine is more or less Plain Jane, no hanging web gear or weapons, the goodies are in the glove and tool boxes, but I did add a little color by attaching the red ID Tag to the gas can and installed a yellow 1st Aid Box.

I put a pack of Lucky's in the windshield handle, a 1944 Yank magazine on passenger seat, open box of K-rations on floor, along with m-1 helmet
& jump jacket on drivers seat of my 1944 GPW. Good conversation starters whenever I'm at a show.

My 4/42 GPW came to me with a jerry can bracket and a 45 RHEEM can. It had the rear panel gussets welded in. It had a fender BODL and trailer eyebolts but no trailer socket. No rifle rack either. It had a rear seat with a tire pump bracket also. It was a USAF Civil Air Patrol jeep before the OP bought it. I left it as it was, dents/dings and al...l and aside from a rattle-can resto and some musette bags....all I did was fuel/electrical restorations. Oh yeah, I added an M1 Carbine scabbard and put an empty M1 Carbine STOCK into it.

My jeep looks more like an "in the field jeep" and last time I took it through some muddy roads I left the mud on the tires/rims and elsewhere for effect.

Personally I think anyone who abides by the FACTORY restoration and leaves all this stuff off is probably doing the right thing. The lookie-lous may think jeeps outfitted with every "do-dad" on the planet are "cool" but those of us who know better can appreciate the dedication to authenticity that the factory class restorers put into their jeeps.

I'm with Chuck.
I like to keep my jeep simple so those of us who are in the know can appreciate what a basic jeep look's like.
Don't miss my bottle opener on the dash.

What?
No raffia bound Italian wine bottles? No carrier pigeon cage? No bustle basket? No radio? No cigarette lighter in the dash? No bedrolls? No rations?

.....not even ONE token Coke bottle in sight!
