WWII era Air Raid signs

Post by SteveG » Sat Nov 29, 2014 2:45 pm

Here's two of the original WWII era Air Raid signs I have in my collection. The Norfolk Naval Station Air Raid Shelter sign was the most recent find. Size is 16"x30". The building still exists on that base. I sure would like a picture of the building to go along with the sign! It's also a two sided sign on 1/2" plywood that must have been used inside, since it's in beautiful condition.

The Air Raid Stop sign is from Palermo, Ohio as seen on the back. It was a hand held sign 12"x21" owned by Stanley Foster, probably to stop traffic during an air raid.
