Here is a Material Survey sheet of the Lunette... is say purchased from Steel Materials. I'm not sure that is much help.

Thanks Mark. It looks like Steel Materials manufactured the Frame Flange. Unfortunately it doesn't look like they indicate a manufacturer of the lunette eye itself. Interesting though that they call out "factory made" versus assuming that if a manufacturer isn't cited it would be considered made in-house.
Great info - thank you.

I looked thru the 8 sets of Chassis BOM (List of Parts) that I have for the MB-T and see no MFG listed other than noted in the post above.
Someone may have a PRF that notes MFG but you have all I found.

RATS!
Is a PRF a performance specification?
Thanks Mark.

"Production Release Form".
Just another document. I'll see if Fred has it in his list.

Hello Chance,
In their vast multitude of war products that they built ......
Did the Chrysler Corporation actually make lunettes for the trailer parts supply chain ??
That certainly looks just like the logo found on Dodge WC bolt heads !!

Wow I think you may be right! Do you have any pics that you can post? I found ONE picture on a non-RFJP website (which I won't post here). I can't believe I'm not pulling anything else up on the internet searches.
It really does look like a match though. I wonder what, if any, other implications this could mean?

Hello Chance,
I don't have a lunette on my MBT trailer, but I know it is possible that Chrysler might have made them,
they made a lot of things, as most companies did, for the all out war effort !!
You nay have a great discovery there !!
I remember always enjoying looking at a big set of twin WW2 Naval 40 MM ack-ack guns, with a big brass tag on it that said made by the Chrysler Corporation.
They were mounted at the old DRMO office in Orlando in front of their warehouse office.
I asked them what they were going to do with them once the Naval Training Center closed, but Mack didn't know,
but hope they would be saved and sent somewhere. They would make an outstanding lawn ornament with a flag pole !!
Hopefully someone out there has some knowledge about this trailer part !
maybe some Dodge guru might know a little more.
That logo looks just like the ones on Dodge bolts, and is trademarked by them
so a close resemblance by a different company, wouldn't be allowed at all.
Maybe others can study their unit closely and get a clear pic of the logo to confirm they have one as well ?
We know how great the Chrysler Foundry capabilities were, and the excellent manufacturing they did on the WC's !!!!
Best Regards,
Ray

Hello Chance,
If I can get to my stored away MBT, I will check, as I do have that portion of the lunette,
it had the ring cut off and a regular hitch welded on . But it is hard to get to the trailer, inside a closed trailer , filled with stuff .

Re: G529 Willys MB-T January 1943 Restoration
Ray thanks for the pic of the bolt head here! REALLY VERY INTERESTING making this connection. We just moved a few months ago so the parts for the MBT are all boxed up still. Honestly I don't think I'll see them until this winter as improvements on the house are taking priority at the moment.
I have two lunettes. One is PSC BU43 and the other A6370 (with presumably DPCD marked).
My understanding is that the A6370 would have been Willys MBT while the PSC manufactured with other manufactured trailers. No proof of this just what others' have seemed to indicate.
IF this is accurate then Willys would have had a contract with the Chrysler Foundry perhaps?
This almost borders the revelation some time back where we finally determined Goodyear or Firestone on these trailers and hence G503s.

Re: G529 Willys MB-T January 1943 Restoration
I just recently discovered a reference to:
http://www.theshermantank.com/sherman/s ... ve-anyway/
Perhaps PSC stands for Pressed Steel Car a company that apparently manufactured Shermans during the war.

Hello Chance,
Very nice link to the Shermans, excellent website !!!
I would not be surprised if we have discovered that Chrysler made the lunettes for some manufacturers !
Every little thing helps to discover interesting history
I am thinking that British Contract jeeps left the factory with Dunlop tires on them as part of the contract spec,
It was a British Company with factories here, and they made Jeep tires !
Would seem elementary
Iowa Jeep post has a Dunlop spare tire mounted on it that, the jeep returned from Germany, and the Dunlop Tire, has "Made in USA on it."
Just an idea ,
Best Regards,
Ray
