I do! It gets a lot of attention - more than the jeep, really.

Thanks!

I got the windows on ebay. They were about $50 each, I think.

The porthole windows would look very good. I wonder if they open?

The side windows on mine are about 18" wide by 15" tall. Here's one that is pretty close: http://www.ebay.com/itm/RV-Teardrop-Tra ... 1257764460

Some new pics... my friend Lanny Moore prepping for the MVPA Bankhead Convoy, with his Eagle's Nest mobile quarters. Lanny has a head start to where the convoy begins.

New stuff: I was able to join AC12's "Gas Can Mike" Picard for his annual Fall Colors Tour from Nathrop, CO this year. It was epic. Great people! True jeep country! Flatfenders rule! I stumbled on Terry Shelswell's son at a McDonald's on the way out!

Here's some pics from Mt Antero. The rest of the week is available on Mike's FCT thread: http://www.thecj2apage.com/forums/color ... 36777.html

I'm signed up for the MVPA Route 66 convoy this fall! Woot! I'm making a few changes to my MB and the teardrop for the trip.

On the teardrop, I'm going to wimp out and add a tongue jack. My back is starting to complain bitterly when I pick it up. I'm also going to fit turn signals to my rig by converting the blackout lights.

On my MB, I found out during Mike's excellent fall colors tour that my transfer case needed attention. I had changed it to an early post-war case and M-38 gears a few years ago for the 2.47 ratio low range improvement. The case still fits my T-84 trans. I put new gears in the transfer case and converted the intermediate gear to a tapered-roller bearing setup. I also installed heim joints in my clutch linkage. That hose in the lower right connects the fill plug holes on my transmission & transfer case. I gave up on the oil migration problem and just let it circulate now. Works fine and I can see the fluid level through the hose. This makes my transfer case run a little over-full, but I think the overdrive likes the extra lube.

Image

I'm also experimenting with a brace for my windshield. It still seems pretty solid but I don't like the wind stress on the outer windshield frame. I think it might work! McMaster Carr is a candy store. I'm addicted to that store... I want an easily-removable strap that won't stick out too much.

Some pics on the recent MVPA Route 66 convoy. Great trip! A person really gets a feel for how the middle of America lives.

Typical "dry camp". This the luxury lodging for John Gillich and Leroy Cunha. John was our march unit leader.

The old "Chain of Rocks" bridge over the Mississippi River, just north of St Louis has an interesting kink in the middle.

Stretch of original Route 66. Illinois or Missouri, I forget. Quite a bit of the old road is still out there.

Some businesses aren't doing so well. This one in Tucumcari.

Jeeps would have had some trouble if not for Lt Dan's trailer. My jeep spent a little time there too.

I had the chance to be the very last vehicle in the convoy a few times. It's neat back there. We were stretched out over a mile while underway. About 45 vehicles in the convoy on a typical day.

Pretty ladies along the way.

My friend Dave Peterson rode with me for a few days. Good company.

Pacific ocean! Never thought I would drive a wartime jeep down Santa Monica Blvd! This image in Redondo Beach.
