CCKW COMMAND PILOT SEAT

Post by Ben Dover » Wed May 13, 2015 6:12 pm

CCKW Command Pilot Seat. This where I sit. The yellow decals (Good Driver and Silicone Brake Fluid) add color.
It helps to weigh over 175# as the closed cab CCKW ride can get bouncy. Note the Weebee OD Vinyl seat cover. The Delco Ignition Switch and Glove box lock are keyed H-700.
I have tried hard to use all GM parts, and have come close.

Runs like a top, my primary parade vehicle- WWII Veterans love it. Maintained the way the Army taught me.

And what about your gear shift knob?
Is it OD Painted or Alu-polished?

Hard black rubber. I did consider a Budweiser knob from a beer fountain.

Note the magnetic decal on the passenger inner door panel, it is the crest of the 152nd Field Artillery that was a local Guard unit activated in the spring of 1941. It spent 1942 thru 1945 attached to the 43rd Division which island hopped across the South Pacific clearing out Japanese in places named Solomons, Guadalcanal, Munda, etc. The passenger door has the name CWO Joe Deroche painted on the outside below the glass. CWO DeRoche served in the Maine Army Guard from 1935 thru 1976, starting as a stable boy at the local Armory. I grew up surrounded by the local veterans who served in the 152nd.

Amazing, when you think about your MV and realize that all of the parts that makeup your MV may turn in different directions while traveling in the same direction as the rest of the truck without leaving a trail of parts.
What did I just say? :? Am sure Dr. Deuce understands.

Fun truck, a few more parts to service than a Jeep, bigger tools required, takes up more space, and very rewarding when completed.

Anyone tried the New Seat Bottom Springs from Jim Carter? There is a difference in the bottom cushion of the Chevrolet 4X4 and GMC 6X6. Am wondering if the springs by Jim Carter fit as is?

Anyone recognize the different Heater Switch? I thought it looked more appropriate than the Round Knob one that is included with the kit.

Anyone tried the 41-46 Era Chevrolet Seat Bottom Springs from Jim Carter yet? Wonder if they fit CCKW Closed Cab.
