Sorry, I saw Jay and confused you with the other Jay that also answered, he is from the UK. And I hate to tell you this but that is an Encore.. You do realize that Government liquidation also sells civilian vehicles as does Iron Planet don't you? As a matter of fact Gov. Liquidation lost the contract to sell government rolling stock so if it came from them it was a civilian sale. No matter, it is still a nice looking vehicle. Encores were manufactured in South Florida from 86 to 88 or 89 if I remember correctly. They were only made for a couple years. So needless to say someone has put the M-151 data plate on there to make it out to be a m-151 but unless someone removed it the original Encore VIN tag is on the firewall on the engine side on the drivers side.

Jay, Look at the bright side, The Encore has a welded body on a full frame. The body is 16 gauge steel instead of the M-151 18 gauge so it is much more durable. Without all of the unibody folds and creases you have less areas to trap water and dirt so less rust.
Did you buy this from Government Liquidation? Did you find the original Encore VIN tag? Did it come with a title?

Jay, Here is some info from a guy that worked for Encore. I had the manufacture years a decade off, they were made in 97-98. There is another link I am looking for and when I find it I will add it here.

Here is the other link, it is a dealer that did some research.

well i actually trade my 1961 ford falcon 2 door for it, but the guy i traded with informed me it came from a government auction. he said it was a 67 it does have a clean title but the title was issued in 1998. as ford the vehicle itself he restored it and have receipts totalling 6800 dollars plus the military manual on how to rebuild everything. but now that you informed me it is an encore that is probably why the issue date is 1998 cause when i researched the encore they were made for 2 years from 98 through 99. its a sharp running rig i got it mainly cause i knew my father drove one in vietnam when he was there from beginning of 68 to 70

Re: picture of my Mutt
What is it titled as? As long as the title matches either the Encore VIN or the M-151 data plate then you are good to drive it. I had a 61 Falcon at one time, of coarse that was back in 68 and it was beat to hell back then. Someone had given it to me and I gave it to someone else when I got drafted.

Re: picture of my Mutt
Hmmmmm
states don't issue VIN numbers. They are are the vehicle. So the title should state that it is a 1998 something. Encore? Jeep? Truck?
I think the intent with these threads is not to convince you that what you purchased was misrepresented, but just to make sure you are "street legal". Guy in our local MVPA has an Encore and din't think we'd let him join the club because it was not "military". It looks like a duck and quacks like a duck, so we don't care. If he's happy, we're happy. His is 24 v and he has issues with a Chinese coil and club members are helping him out with finding an orriginal . Is yours still 25v? or converted to something else.
By the way, here's a photo of my mutt . . .
