Finally delievered 196X M151A1

Post by Austringer » Tue Aug 05, 2014 5:10 am

Picked this up off of Craigslist back in Feb and the previous owner finally had a chance to dig her out of the barn for me and bring her over this morning.

Not the best condition, but I don't have much in her to start. I think the engine is frozen but not sure. I'll need to purchase front and rear drive shafts as they are missing. I'll need to replace the battery box and do some body work on her, but noting too much. I have a very nice M151A1 windshield that will replace the A2 one and a very nice grill as well.

Thoughts comments tomatoes....

That looks like a nice project, the rust is really not that bad, just a lot of sanding and hammer work, mine was a whole lot worse then that, good luck.

Looks like a nice rescue. I like it, has a lot of potential.
Have fun.

8 years? I would bet that one is long gone! Jason doesn't tend to hang on to them for to long.

Maybe it's me and my lack of observance, but I've never seen the air intake like that or the
port on the hood covered over like that either. I've seen similar to it on the M38 looking CJs.
But this is a first for me on a MUTT. Am I wrong here and it's more common than I know?
Admittedly I don't know much.

The early straight 151's were set up like that with the perforated intake cap and fording hole blockoff.

When I 1st got the 151, I remember the cap with the holes in it, where it is now is a good question?

They are tough to find anymore. With all the crap I have around for early mutts I think I only have the one that is on my mutt.

The body is in good condition not to bad on the rust. The battery box area seem to always be rusted out on these, that acid is a eatter. I just did some body repairs to mine so its a task but you will be in shape in time. Hope to see some updates.
