G503 Album Updates
Hi all,
You will notice that the G503 Album website is currently closed. This is because I am doing some painstaking conversions of the site database to a new software package. I do not know how long it will take, or if it is feasible. But it's worth a try because the current software was last updated five years ago and is way behind the times.
The new software would support higher resolution uploads in addition to mobile uploads directly from a smartphone browser.
Post here if you have any questions, comments, or concerns.

Re: G503 Album Updates
I'm rather concerned because all of my various toolsets are documented in the G503 albums. Do you have any more information about when it will be available again? I used it earlier this morning. Thanks,

Re: G503 Album Updates
There's no need for concern - I'm just testing some stuff out at the moment. If, in the end, it doesn't work, it will just go back to the way it was.

Re: G503 Album Updates
Will the new software solution provide an option for the picture owner to download a compressed copy of all the pictures by any chance?

Brian, I must admit I was a little concerned when I went on the site and it saying it was being worked on!
Then I saw this thread and now see all is well.
What are you doing in Germany, I thought you were in the San Diego area?
Anyway, we all will wait patiently for your good work to put us all back on track.

Re: G503 Album Updates
I think I have the highest number of pics on Brian Blackdog's site .. and with approximately 3 mil views of the pics.
Just a big thank you for hosting our pics .. and for the site being very stable over many years .. I have been using it since 2005 or 2006 .. cant check right now.
Good luck with the upgrade

You've certainly been using it long enough to have been using it when it was still on the tacticalblunder domain name (I think your forum signature might be 5+ years out of date )Beep wrote: ↑Sat Sep 02, 2017 10:12 amI think I have the highest number of pics on Brian Blackdog's site .. and with approximately 3 mil views of the pics.

I think it has only been down for maintenance or upgrade one or two times in its 13 year life, so any surprise on your part is justified!Mark Tombleson wrote: ↑Sat Sep 02, 2017 8:20 amBrian, I must admit I was a little concerned when I went on the site and it saying it was being worked on!

I left San Diego two years ago more or less, studied a year here, and then decided to stay
Hopefully my work will be good: so far, all of the users, albums, and photos will be preserved. Users will have to reset their passwords with the new system but that shouldn't be a big issue. The part I haven't quite figured out yet is redirecting all traffic for old files to their new location on my server, but I think I have a workaround for that.
There's a chance that the new system could be rolled out tomorrow if I don't run into major problems. I am just thinking about registering a new domain name now, maybe:

Re: G503 Album Updates
Blackdog, thanks for your efforts. When i post a picture, i always get (your picture is too large, needs downsizing), not being a computer genius, i do struggle with this, and when finally posted it is always too small. Will there be any rectification on this ? Thanks in advance.

My guess is that when it comes back on line ... there will be a record number loaded ... I have about 40 pics waiting !

Re: G503 Album Updates
Small update: encountered some major problems with the new software after getting about half of everything copied over. I'm convinced it is going to be the future solution though, so I will continue working towards getting it to work on my own time. Until then, the website is reopened and you can use it as normal.
