Jeeps meet up
Just returned from a week long MV event and while there I took the opportunity to take a photo of my MB along side a friends MB, they are 26 numbers apart, no doubt they came out here on the same boat during the war and they do not have any documented Australian history.
In case you are wondering mine it the one on the left.

Re: Jeeps meet up
No documented Australian history (presume you mean no Australian military history)? Uncle Sam just left them there at the end of the war then? They would have been sold through some civilian outlet? Makes you wonder about their post-war travels. Nice jeeps, BTW!
Is it true real Jeeps have flat fenders?

@ G.I. The 21 ABN markings are for one of the many Ghost divisions that were involved in counter intelligence in the UK prior to D-Day, I get a little fired of all the 101st and 82nd Jeeps which seem to be everywhere.
@ Fortyeight2a, you are correct.
If interested have a look at the VMVC club forum and see the rebuild of this Jeep.

Hi John,
How was Corowa? Haven't seen any reports on the event, apart from you stash of parts Your MB looks very nice
Dave
That's weird, last night I was watching a programme on the TV about the 23rd Headquarters Special Troops. I really enjoyed it, I knew about some stuff that they did. A friend of mine, has some records with jeep sound effects, like used by them. Some nice shots of vehicleshell-fire wrote: The 21 ABN markings are for one of the many Ghost divisions that were involved in counter intelligence in the UK prior to D-Day,

Re: Jeeps meet up
Dave,
Corowa was a great event, 226 vehicles add a few more for those who are to tight to pay the 20 bucks and register and get the benefits.
Officially from what I have there were 78 Jeeps, 40 Landrovers and a whole bunch of Bren Carriers and Internationals which were the theme vehicles, add in the US6's. Command cars etc. and there was plenty to see.
I'm looking forward to next year.

Re: Jeeps meet up
Yeh, John, I need a return visit 2010 when I was there for the Year of the Jeep. Met up with some of the G503 gang. I don't think you went that year. It would have been nice to see you.hell-fire wrote:I'm looking forward to next year.
The programme that I mentioned is well worth a watch.

I remember following the rebuild a while back; I didn't realize which jeep it was until going back through the thread. That's one nice jeep!hell-fire wrote:If interested have a look at the VMVC club forum and see the rebuild of this Jeep.

Thanks for the kind words it was a lot of work and at the above event I purchased a selection of Joes Motor Pool parts which will make it that little bit better.
