How many jeeps, survived after the World War II ?

Post by Luis » Wed Dec 10, 2008 12:18 pm

How many jeeps, survived after the war?
Noting the photos in Life magazine, where there is large number of jeeps shattered, I wondered, what was the amount of jeeps in normal operating condition that survived the WWII?
And how many are remaining in operation at present, including the restored?
Some of you did the same questions that me?

Interesting that with so many jeeps available in Europe that Englanders are importing them from the US --

Well Dave and All , when you go to shows in the UK about 50% of jeeps are Hotchkiss.. I think that the 5000- 6000 figure is a MVT figure ..

Hard to say but I think there's still quite alot hiding in barns undiscovered across the US !!!
We still know about that secret mountain depot out west somewhere with thousands of crated jeeps !!!

Real Hotchkiss or Notchkiss ? I mean, how many are declared Hotchkiss, and how many are faked into MBs ?

Thanks for answering my question!
Discounted as 25k Hotchkiss manufactured.
Here, in Argentina, we know of about 20 that are being restored, and perhaps many others found scattered throughout my country.
In this forum, there are almost 4k registered. And in the rest of the world?
How many MB GPW survived the WWII ???????

Quite awhile back on the G503 forum this question was put forth.

Many people offered their salient opinions.

While this number might seem outrageous to some, 10% of the total production run of G503 jeeps STILL exist in some form in the world.

That's 65,000 jeeps!!!  Makes me happy!!!

Well, I have been told that only 36 came to Uruguay, I have been in contact with half of them, four of them are restored, the rest is in pretty bad condition. Very hard to have the OD fever around here, chances I´ll ever get my own G503 are low, but I´ll keep trying! :D

Remember this : only 27.628 Hotckiss M201 Jeeps were made !
How many GPW and MB ?....

We are 2016 now and the price of a M201 is about he same as a MB.
