An M1165A1 with B3 armor was on display at the MVPA National Convention in Cleveland's I-X Center. During WW2 the bomber plant built B-29s, then tanks and the M109 howitzer. This M1165 had no fender AC. Built in September 2014, it has the plastic master cylinder, geared fan drive and under hood condenser.

I wonder if that condensor is cheaper then buying the 2 fender units....the old style is over engineered and takes a Crimp One Off ton of real estate, so much easier to work on when it's on the cooling stack.

WOW, Just goes to show that you can never say that one way was the only way things were done on the Humvee. Did you happen to spy the serial number? GREAT PHOTOS!

Which tm would show the ac parts? Looking for condenser part number and any mounts possibly needed as I like this approach?

I looked in TB 9-2320-335-13&P for M1165a1 but did not see anything?

M998 part TMs were broken into two volumes several hundred pages each. The newer trucks use TM 9-2320-387-24P with change 5. Free to download. Check Steel Soldiers, Kascar, Liberated Manuals perhaps the G503 sticky top link. It had many errors. The newer models have one parts book again several hundred pages. A couple years ago the manuals went electronic: Interactive may allow faster updates. It would be great to find an updated one.

Red Dot AC kits were an add on, and not supported or serviced by the published TMs. Interim parts manuals for specific models included some of the Red Dots. There were two versions of Red Dot AC compressors: V Belt and Serpentine belt. Most M1097 & M1123's had the Red Dot AC setup. The Red Dot kit had not so clear copies of the installation instructions. The M1114 factory AC setup (sponson mounted condensor) is covered by the 387 manual. The M1151 series factory AC setup (fender mounted condensors) is too.
