Re: M series ignition switch
Best use the late style with the leads that are Packard on the switch end and Douglas to the instruments. Used potted originals develop splits and short out. Many 50's M-Series Trucks have caught fire with these switches.

Re: M series ignition switch
Your usmc 1964 m38a1 should have used the late m151 style rubber Packard switch, I have a
late 62 usmc m38a1 and that's what it had factory, the ignition switches are all the same up until the Humvee, so whether its out of a m151, m35a2, m54a2, ect it should be the same as what you need for your A1.

Re: M series ignition switch
Make sure the late switch has 4 terminals, and not two, they have a set of 4 pigtails that can be either Packard (Rubber) or Douglas on the end that goes to Jeep. The Switch Terminals are lettered A, B, C, D ant the terminals on the business end are numbers. Don't try to guess if you can't ID or you will fry the wires. Some of the dealers have the correct pigtails. The late switch is the best.
