https://chicago.craigslist.org/chc/cto/ ... 49889.html someone on here probably know who really owns this nice navy jeep please forward it to them also. So far she said shes a staff sergeant based with the coast guard in florida and the jeep is in Auburn ca. and she is being deployed on the uss Dewey . All I have to do is send her a refundable 2500 to have it shipped to me and then I can pay the rest. I hate scum bags like this because obviously some people fall for it.

Coastie being deployed on the USS Dewey eh?
" USS Dewey (DDG-105) is an Arleigh Burke-class guided missile destroyer in the United States Navy. Dewey is the third Navy ship named after Admiral of the Navy George Dewey, hero of the Battle of Manila Bay during the Spanish–American War." And she's a PACOM asset, so the Pacific's a long way from Florida, but the jeeps nearer the ship than she is....

So now the Coast Guard gets guided missile destroyers to take on drug smugglers and coastal defense?

Better fib than saying she's deployed on the Arizona I suppose.

Thank You for the heads up, I hope someone posted it to Craigslist Hq.

HERE IS HER LATEST E MAIL SHE SENT ME
Sara Letham (sara.letham03@gmail.com)
To:you Details

Hey again,

I will try to explain better all the details of the transaction.

At this point I'm stationed in Florida at Jacksonville USCG Hitron Coast Guard Station making final preparations before deploying to South China Sea at USS Dewey. The truck is stored in Auburn, CA at Air Force Base Auburn and is prepared to be delivered to its future owner. Since the truck is in a military base, with no access you can't go there and get it, only our military movers company have access inside the base and will deliver the truck at your address. The delivery takes 2-3 days and all paperwork you need for ownership (title, bill of sale, etc.)  will be provided along with the truck straight to your door.
I would like to use eBay to handle the financial part of this transaction and they will keep your money safe until you get the truck. eBay will send me the money only after the inspection period of 15 days ends (if you agree to keep the truck). So, this is not a blind transaction, you can inspect the truck before committing to buy it and to eliminate any concerns you will have 15 days to inspect it. If you decide not to keep thetruck, eBay will refund you the money in a few hours (no questions asked) and shipping back will be my concern. But I assure you won't be thecase. I think this is more than fair for both of us.
Total price for the truck is $5200 shipping cost inclued. You can make an deposit of minimum $2500 now and after you will receive the truck, you can pay the rest of money.

In order for us to proceed on this transaction, you have to send me your full name, shipping address and phone # so I can forward them to eBay in order to open a case regarding our deal. After that they will send you an invoice with more details about payment, shipping and insurance and will explain better the entire procedure.

Thank you,

I suppose when in doubt a simple request for a photo of the title (has their name on it amoungst other things) would be almost impossible to deny as everyone has cell phones now.
Can't say "I can't take a picture of it, it's with the vehicle" or "I don't know where it is" as they are trying to sell it.
At least it's a simpler way to narrow down the scam threats.

HITRON "The Helicopter Interdiction Tactical Squadron (HITRON) is an armed U.S. Coast Guard helicopter squadron specializing in Airborne Use of Force (AUF) and drug-interdiction missions. It is based at Cecil Field in Jacksonville, Florida."

Still, a Coasty does not go serve aboard a USN Destroyer unless they changed Services or have a Joint Exercise, and even then it's usually aboard a USCG vessel thats participating.

Ask for his Units XO's phone number...if he's serving he will have one, and an XO isn't like your interupting the CO, and you could cross check the unit manning that way as well.

There is no USAF Base Auburn in Ca by the way.
Ask yourself why would a USCG would be assigned on-post USAF housing (if the jeeps stored there) at a Beale USAF base, 940th Air Refueling Wing (19 miles from Auburn), which is about 40 miles north of the USCG Air Station in Sacramento. While being further assigned to duty aboard a USN Ship out of LA.

Talk about Joint Duty, next he will be a Marine working in Army SOF as a Navy Seal LNO.

Besides who is going to wander on a base without showing an ID, (where the vehicle has to be stored in a long term parking lot or it's towed, since they are not there and away on duty....) and merely tow out a vehicle with no one around to coordinate it.

A photo of paperwork is an unexpected request though, that's a no brainer if they cannot provide you that you'd never get anything anyway.

A few years ago I was interested in a Jeep for sale on craigslist but I later found was located in Montana. It was a sacrifice sale from someone undergoing Mountain Training there in Montana with the Army and was soon being deployed to Afghanistan. It was the same deal; pay $2,500 via WesternUnion to an address/number in Seattle and when the Jeep arrived I would be required to pay the balance. I asked where in Montana the Jeep was stored and they sent me an address in Helena. It just so happened that the retired USAF Grandfather of one of one of my Eagle Scouts lives there so I called him and asked if he would go by and verify and take cellphone pictures. He called me an hour later and told me the address was that of the Public Library and that there was no Jeep fitting that description in the lot and that when he inquired inside they told him that it was an internet scam and that law enforcement had been notified several times. However, it seemed to be continuing until some bit the hook so to speak. I realized then that if something looks too good to be true it probably is. I recall many years ago that there was someone in Colorado selling military vehicles on this website for very reasonable prices but when they arrived at the buyer's location they did not match the description or pictures in the ad. This came to the surface and scores of members came forward and testified how they also had been scammed. The G revoked this persons ability to sell and several members threatened to take legal action against this well known person. However it appears the several military vehicle magazines still run his advertisements. I must admit that I almost bought a Command Car he found in the desert for an unbelievable low price until I was warned by a DixieDivision MVPA member.
