PCV Ventilator Baffle?

Post by lesk » Tue Oct 31, 2017 12:10 pm

Hi folks, I have gone through many posts as per oil loss on my 67' M38A1. 1-3 drops oil leak/day, no blue exhaust anytime, PCV valve free and clean and fording valves are open, plugs show no fouling (nice tan burning insulators), compression and oil control rings replaced about a 1000 miles ago, and I loose a quart of oil in about 400 miles. I am however missing the PCV valve ventilator baffle....what is this for and can lack of this piece cause the loss of oil.

Regards,

lesk

I ran my M38 for a year without that baffle until I adjusted the valves. I replaced when taking the side cover off. I believe all that baffle does is to keep oil deposist and so forth from clogging your PCV. My M38 never used any oil when that was missing. John
