I'm working on my dad's 1955 M38A1 and it's becoming more apparent that the jeep was originally white.
The serial # is 82322.
I searched the forum and it looks like this jeep probably stayed stateside and was used by civil defense and/or forestry service?
Any more interesting info about white jeeps?
Work on the jeep is going well. I'll post some more photos later.
Thanks,
Keith

Spill,
I Googled "civil defense jeep" and under Images the pic below came up. I don't think the wheels are original, but I'd never seen one of these jeeps before..........it looks pretty cool. Are you planning to paint it that way? If so, it'd be the only one like it at Military meets you take it to.
regards,
bob

Some of the Canadian M38A1s where used for the United Nations. But no M38a1CDN where made during 1955.

Think NASA, NATO, UN Peace Keepers and all that white paint that is available. I'll bet your Jeep was 2430 SG OD from the factory.
That UN Jeep pic is post 1962.

Some Jeeps & Mutts used on military firing ranges were painted white.
