Hello all. I am new to the G503 site and just purchased my first M38A1. From what I can tell its a 1954 that is almost complete. It doesn't have the original rear bumper or right fender and is missing some things such as a side mirror and some lights. My goal is to restore it to its original paint and accessories. Based on what I have researched thus far the jeep was delivered to the Army in Jan or 1954. It served time in 49BG 1-1-159 which appears to have been part of the California National Guard. It appears to have then been purchased by Kings County California where is served the county for an unknown amount of time before being stored in a barn for the past 15-25 years. I have attached some photos that I was hopping might assist in answering some questions I have.
Based on what I've found on the internet I cant tell if the windshield frame is original.
It appears that I have a 52-53 batter cover and that at some point someone used four screws to hold it in place.
I'm sure Ill have numerous question in the future.
Thanks
Jeff

Re: ID Questions
Something is odd with your windshield. On my 1952 M38A1 windshield along the upper edge below the canvas top channel there are two hood bumpers and a windshield catch.
