Where Does the Tool Roll and Jack Get Stored?

Post by w30bob » Wed Mar 29, 2017 3:19 pm

Howdy boys,

Ok, so I'm trying to learn up on these jeep things. I found a guy on eBay selling an NOS tool roll with the jack and collapsible handle. Way too much for my wallet, but very interesting to see what it consists of and what the individual tools look like. But where does this big ol' tool roll store in the vehicle? Doesn't seem like there's much room for anything in an M38 or A1.

Is this tool roll complete or was there more? Should there be a little grease gun too?

thanks,
bob

Stored in the Tool Box under the passenger seat.
Trip Ticket, TM and Accident Report goes in Glove Box. Don't forget Good Driver Decal on Glove Box. Make room for shoe brush and some Shinola.

So .... Just catching up on the forum.
Not sure how this tool set could be an M38A1 original AND have a NSN on the bag. :?:

If I remember correctly, M38A1 production years were 1952 thru 1971.
NSN codification was implemented 9/30/74.
Before that was FSN codification which was in use from 1957 thru 9/74.

The tools and bag in the picture are for the M151 not M38 or M38A1.The lug wrench has 11/16 M151 lug nuts and 3/4 for the 1/4 ton trailer lug nuts though a very few M151A1 had 3/4" lug nuts.

Similar Lug Wrench was part of 1940's Ford Sedan Tool kit. The M-38A1 Tool Bag was stored in the tool box under the passenger seat.
