Finding proof of delivery to the Armed Forces

I was recently contacted by someone who claims to have an MC aka M38, that was supposedly issued to General Ridgeway during the Korean War or there about that time.
Q: Is there a way to confirm this by looking up these numbers:
SN# 14901
Stck# G-27586800361
DOD: 9/52
MFR: 657323
Hood#: 42002282
Bumpers: 45 180-1 ECO HQ

If anyone can direct me to the right source I'd appreciate it!
Thanks

Terry, the SN# 14901 (DOD 2-51) is the only number in that lot that relates to an M38 that I see...be a hard story to prove.

No way unless you find a picture of him in it. The Government has no data base of vehicle issues; when I worked at TACOM I looked for one. The Historical office might have a picture but that is like one in a million shot.
Everyone wants to document his jeep to a particular unit or person. It is as close to impossible as you can get. Picture.

In the Soft bound book, The American Jeep in War and Peace by Kurt Willinger and Gene Gurney, 1983, there is a pic of Ridgeway in an M-38 jeep doing his final inspection tour as Nato commander in France on June 16, 1953. Unfortunately, the pic is taken from the passenger side of the jeep starting from mid cowl rearward. Very little of the hood is shown. :(

I have never heard of an M38 with a registration number beginning with 42.I doubt that an M38 with Oct 1952 DOD even made it to Korea before July 1953.

If the seller is making the claim, he should be the one to provide the documented proof, which could only be a photo of Ridgeway in a jeep with the same registration number, and even then it could be fake. I hate these sellers who make these type claims, hoping to get a premium price for their vehicles. BTW, my M38 was driven by General Patton at the battle of Gettysburg in 1914.

There was a huge reunion of Confederate and Union veterans of Gettysburg in 1913.

Speaking of that .......

There are great pics and a video of actual Union and Confederate Veterans, riding in WW2 Jeeps at a grand reunion !!
Pretty incredible, and to set an historical point, they had made peace with each other, and became best of friends those many many years after
the US Civil War.
Again, they were there .

Peace is far better than war !!

Soldiers of the past era rarely actually hate their enemy on a personal basis; once hostilities cease, they often become friends. Of course, some more recent enemies are exceptions and I won't name any.
